Welcome to the engagement site for the Advanced Pain Discovery Platform. We have forums for open discussion, research news updates, events to attend and resources to be shared. This site currently has 2 levels: (a) basic account (homepage and news), and (b) restricted account (for full site access). APDP partners and other individuals who can contribute to our objectives will be granted approval for full site access.
The Advanced Pain Discovery Platform is a consortium-based UK network resource that will break through the complexity of pain and reveal new treatment approaches to address a wide spectrum of chronic and debilitating clinical conditions. The APDP comprises experts in clinical and laboratory aspects of pain, psychologists, sociologists, and data specialists, linked to key academic and commercial facilities across the UK and beyond. At the heart of the APDP are people with lived experience of chronic pain, ensuring that together we meet their urgent needs.
Pain is a major unmet global public health challenge. It blights the lives of many thousands with chronic conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, fibromyalgia, headache, or diseases of the gut or uterus. It affects people of all ages and backgrounds. Pain is complex, and experts across many disciplines need to work together to better understand mechanisms of pain and improve treatments. Our approach will ultimately improve the lives of people living with pain conditions, their families and carers.
